3D Creature and Character Modeling





This course introduces students to form through digital sculpting. These techniques are used by 3D modelers in the animation, visual effects, video game, and toy industries. Students will explore the process of digitally sculpting a 3D character.


Course Syllabus

As a result of successfully completing this course, students...

Will be able to:

  • Create appealing lines and curves that add to the design of a character.
  • Analyse a form in stages at primary, secondary, and tertiary levels.
  • Understand the basics of understanding 3D space, orientation, and the environment in 3D software.
  • Learn the fundamentals of the process for digital sculpting.
  • Create a digitally sculpted character with objects.
  • Render 3D model for a final presentation of their work.

  • Meet assigned deadlines
  • Accept and apply critiques
  • Analyze and discuss work using industry specific terminology
  • Prepare for and contribute to class discussions and critiques
