Advertising Essentials





Students are introduced to the different creative skills central to the advertising business. They learn both through twenty-minute conceptual exercises and through being taught the basics of developing print ads and TV commercials. Students finish the program with a final project that they present to the class.


Course Syllabus

As a result of successfully completing this course, students...

Will be able to:

  • Evaluate what is good and/or bad in an ad or campaign.
  • Write a basic creative brief.
  • Present a concept and sell their idea.
  • Conduct research and compile information in preparation for creating an ad or campaign
  • Comprehend industry terminology

Will display the following attitudes/professional behaviors:

  • Meet assigned deadlines
  • Accept and apply critiques
  • Analyze and discuss work using industry specific terminology
  • Prepare for and contribute to class discussions and critiques
