Introduction to Acting





Students develop their understanding of the art of acting by participating in exercises and beginning scene study. The rehearsal of scenes is an integral part of the course. Work is done with partners and as an ensemble.


Course Syllabus

As a result of successfully completing this course, students...

Will be able to:

  • Identify and apply acting vocabulary to a character within a scene
  • Create and develop a character with a fully realized arc
  • Analyze a play
  • Apply archetypes to develop a three dimensional character
  • Employ rehearsal techniques and adjustments with a partner outside of class
  • Practice full use of the imagination within the creative process
  • Contribute to the ensemble process

Will display the following attitudes/professional behaviors:

  • Meet assigned deadlines
  • Accept and apply critiques
  • Analyze and discuss work using industry specific terminology
  • Prepare for and contribute to class discussions and critiques
