Introduction to Visual Design

This course introduces students to the fundamentals of digital conceptualization, design and implementation for interactive media. Using Adobe Creative Cloud, students will learn the basics of digital drawing and imaging while creating compositions for interactive media. Students will be given a cursory introduction to the fundamentals of user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design. This includes principles surrounding wireframe development and interface prototype creation. Prior computer experience is recommended.

As a result of successfully completing this course, students...

Will be able to:

  • Evaluate what is good and/or bad in an ad or campaign.
  • Write a basic creative brief.
  • Present a concept and sell their idea.
  • Conduct research and compile information in preparation for creating an ad or campaign
  • Comprehend industry terminology

  • Meet assigned deadlines
  • Accept and apply critiques
  • Analyze and discuss work using industry specific terminology
  • Prepare for and contribute to class discussions and critiques.
