Rapid Game Development

AE GAM34 is a continuation of the game design fundamentals taught in AE GAM24. Students will use the skills they learned in the first class to rapidly develop five games in five different genres under 1-week deadlines.

Prerequisite: Must have completed AE GAM24 Video Gaming: Game Design to qualify

Course Syllabus

As a result of successfully completing this course, students...

Will be able to:

  • Develop five games in five unique genres.
  • Implement systems-based design to create new gameplay mechanics.
  • Identify edge cases and best practices for solving them.
  • Utilize advanced scripting methodologies.
  • Build simple AI behaviors.

Will display the following attitudes/professional behaviors:

  • Meet assigned deadlines
  • Accept and apply critiques
  • Analyze and discuss work using industry specific terminology
  • Prepare for and contribute to class discussions and critiques
